Medeguide

We do a lot of ongoing design work for Medeguide. Our work with them started towards the end of 2008 when they were looking for someone to design the front end of their website, medeguide.com. Since then we have designed several items for them including brochures, leaflets, presentations, application forms and websites. We are currently rejuvenating the existing site we created a year ago, and there are plans to develop an entirely new, more exciting look and feel during 2010.

Below is an article we published in &beyond Issue 9 about Medeguide.com, this will help explain what Medeguide is all about.

Doctors At Your Fingertips With Medeguide

When we needed medical treatment in the old days before the Internet, we’d head off to whatever local doctor we already knew about, get checked out, have a prescription written for us and be on our way. Things sure have changed. In today’s climate of instant communication, we now can now choose from much more information: who to see, where to go and, most importantly, how much we pay.

Recognizing that patients today demand an instant source of reliable information about doctors and treatment options, Ruben Toral developed a new web portal to help patients search, find and connect with doctors called Medeguide. Formerly Group Marketing Director for Bumrungrad International hospital in Bangkok, Ruben understood that the most important relationship in medicine is between patient and doctor so he created an online platform to connect the two.

Using his extensive network of contacts with hospitals around the world, Ruben focused on winning over leading international medical centers in Singapore, Thailand, India and Mexico to support his project. He knew that these top tier hospitals needed more cost effective communication channels to reach patients looking for doctors and treatment options locally and globally, and that Medeguide was the ideal solution.

The beauty of the Medeguide system is that it is a platform based around targeted search. Looking for a plastic surgeon in Thailand specializing in liposuction, or maybe an orthopedic surgeon in Singapore specializing in hip replacement using popular search engines like Google and Yahoo can be frustrating because there is too much information. Medeguide focuses on finding doctors, treatment packages and hospitals by country, specialty or procedure.

To help make this more attractive for prospective medical tourists, Medeguide recently entered into partnership with Patients Without Borders, one of the most recognised names in the medical travel industry. Acting as a content partner for Medeguide, they will provide prospective patients with information about popular medical travel destinations throughout Asia, Latin America and EU from a medical traveler’s point of view.

To make it even easier, Medeguide has created the ‘Medeguide Top Ten’ — a top ten list of doctors by specialty and country. Doctors selected for this program must meet specific criteria regarding board certification, experience, language and where they work. Later, the list will be expanded to procedures. The Medeguide Top Ten program is an enhanced tool but is not intended to promote any one doctor as the ‘best’ because that is always a subjective issue.

The breadth and scope of Medeguide is huge and the opportunities it presents are endless, given the broad-based supply and demand between the world’s patients, and its world-class hospitals. Medeguide promises to be the nexus through which the medical tourism industry reaches its information-era potential.
